Child Labour Poem and Haiku's
These poems are dedicated to all the child labour victims:
Why, oh why
Can't you see the children cry,
Nothing to say "That's mine!".
They've for a choice: live or die.
Can't you see it in their eyes,
Working dangerous lives in the mines,
Putting their lives on the line for us,
We've got to stop it, yes we must.
Recover up the steps,
Repay what has been spent,
Don't feel like sifting sand,
They've lost and we have kept.
Working for our benefits,
They'll never slow, they'll never quit,
For the money that they make,
Gives them a meal, not expensive cakes.
A Series of Child Labour Haiku's
It is horrible.
It should be stopped right away.
Stop child labour now.
They get paid six cents,
We have hundred dollar shoes.
Stop child labour now.
See the problem now?
Make an effort right away.
Stop child labour.
If you had a heart,
You would support my statement.
Stop child labour now.
You were a kid once.
They deserve a life as well.
Stop child labour now.
Another poem from Child Labour is a Crime :(
They wake up every morning,
Before the light of day.
Having to go to work,
There's no time for play.
They're treated unfairly,
And being paid low wages.
Paid less than adults,
Because of their ages.
There's no time for school,
They don't have an education.
Don't know their ABC's.
What a frustration.
These unfair conditions,
Not suited for kids,
Should really be stopped,
But the law doesn't forbid.
Their health is affected,
Dying quite young.
Bosses so heartless.
Children dying of Black Lung.
They work such long hours,
With very little pay,
Not recognized for their work,
And having no say.
These poor children
Work in the street
In the bitter cold,
Walking on their bare little feet.
Child labour is such a crime.
Do something about it.
Save children from misery;
We have to commit.
We chose this poem, because it captures the life of child labourers perfectly. It shows what they have to go through in such a lyrical message.
