The different types of sustainability
Economic
Humans have a responsibility of maintaining resources at the same or faster rate than we are consuming. To have economic sustainability, those who consume capital must also conserve it so that they can enjoy it for ever. This means we need to conserve and provide equal distribution of other resources so that other humans can relish it as well. Economic sustainability is having a prosperous and fair economy, whilst it is environmentally, socially and humanly sustainable at the same time.
Human
The very basics of human sustainability is having good reproductive health and safe birth. Couples who decide they want to start a family, have to be committed and have the responsibility of caring for their children, knowing they have access to proper education, providing a safe environment and making sure they have good health and wellness. At some point in time, children should be knowledgeable enough to sustain their own life through the skills their parents should have taught them. They should be educated enough so that individuals can go through the process of reproduction and rearing. As long as this cycle is well maintained, human sustainability should not be a difficulty in the future.
Social
Social sustainability is perhaps the most important aspect of sustainability. With poor levels of social sustainability, relationships are broken and societies and everything else that depends on a strong bond between communities will be ruined. Through respect and co-operation, social sustainability can be achieved. Humans need to maintain a healthy community for relationships to be strong.
Environmental
Environmental sustainability is important because it involves natural resources that human beings need for economic and manufactured capital. Materials taken from nature are used for human survival. If natural resources are consumed faster than them being regenerated, human beings will be left without raw materials. With the absence of raw materials, humans will no longer be able to sustain themselves with food and manufactured goods.
Furthermore, environmental sustainability involves ensuring that waste matter are at levels the Earth and humans can manage. If not, humans and other species can be harmed and possibly become extinct.
